"Everyone Isn't Smiling"
A Look At Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

(When It's Not There)

Upon arriving to this new country, Bob and his new friend Leilani decide to catch a local bus to their campsite. Unfortunately, Bob was initially presented with a higher cost for the bus ride than Leilani. When she noticed, she told the local that it was not fair and to adjust the price.
Leilani instinctively knew that Bob was charged more because he did not look like a local. Charging tourists more happens often, and as an experienced traveler, Leilani knew this was not equitable.

As a first time visitor, ensuring that Bob had fair, impartial treatment was important so that he could have the same local experience as everyone else.
In Leilani's travels, many locals went above and beyond to ensure her comfort, because they understood she was at a disadvantage being unfamiliar.
The bus driver may need a lesson in equity!
