Bob met Leilani for lunch to discuss his unfortunate realizations. He recognized his own growth and was so proud. Even his lunch was a huge step from his usual tomato soups and sandwiches.
Leilani reminded him of how she had both felt excluded and included at different times in her life. Through her travels and studies, she was able to learn the three key needs that make people feel like they can be heard, seen and acknowledged for their efforts. These things also made individuals self-determined.
Leilani highlighted that Yoneily may have experienced many things at work that she never shares, and maybe that is why she does not smile much.
